Engineering depth, from architecture to delivery
Simon's career spans enterprise software implementation, bespoke platform development, engineering leadership and hands-on delivery. He understands the work beneath a product's interface: how its components fit together, how data is handled and what has to remain reliable as more people depend on it.
As Vice President of Software Engineering at EYOTO, he led software delivery and product architecture for an automated ophthalmic imaging platform. He built cross-functional engineering teams and strengthened security, engineering governance and DevOps practices to support regulated, enterprise deployment.
Earlier roles included technical consultancy at PWA Personnel Systems and professional-services leadership at Microsoft, where he worked across development, consulting, support and training. At Amigo Technology, he led delivery and engineering operations for enterprise engagements, including platforms in car rental and wholesale.
Launching products, not just building software
Simon founded e64 in 2003 and led it for more than 16 years, developing bespoke digital and eCommerce platforms for SMEs and corporate clients. The business launched four multi-million-revenue eCommerce platforms on proprietary technology, helping clients turn technical capability into trading businesses.
As EYOTO's CEO, he led the transition from an R&D-led organisation towards commercial execution. His work included a £2m-plus multi-site, multinational deployment, reducing monthly operating costs by 55% while preserving core engineering capability, and securing £5.9m in further funding.
That combination of technical and executive responsibility informs how he develops products: connect the engineering decisions to a real customer need, understand the cost of delivery and put the foundations in place for repeatable use rather than a one-off demonstration.
Practical AI, with engineering judgement
Simon works with business owners, leadership teams and boards to identify where AI can create practical value. His focus includes opportunity assessment, workflow automation, AI-enabled products and services, implementation readiness and responsible adoption.
At EYOTO, he defined and sponsored an AI strategy incorporating machine learning and computer vision into the product roadmap. He has also completed the Oxford Generative and Agentic AI Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
In developing Accorded, Simon uses AI both within the product and as part of the software-development process. AI can help explore approaches, accelerate implementation and support testing, but it does not remove the need for sound architecture, review, validation or responsibility for the result.
Building for scale and international use
International delivery has been a practical part of Simon's work. At Microsoft, he led a European HR and payroll consulting practice of approximately 60 consultants across three regions. His later multinational medtech deployment brought together software, operations and customer delivery across multiple sites.
That experience shapes his approach to Accorded: consider growth, reliable data access, maintainability and different user contexts from the outset. Building for wider use means thinking beyond the first successful interaction to how a service behaves when teams, accounts and histories grow.
His contribution brings product strategy, user experience, commercial priorities and engineering execution together, turning John's pattern work into a practical tool for the messages people write every day.
